luisboni Posted September 26, 2019 Report Posted September 26, 2019 Are these real Japanese Inscriptions in form of a signature? -Luis Quote
cisco-san Posted September 26, 2019 Report Posted September 26, 2019 Hi, I guess the blade is signed Rakuyō Ichijō Horikawa-jū Kunihiro 洛陽一条堀川住国廣 and I am not sure if the mei is good --> Gimei Quote

luisboni Posted October 2, 2019 Author Report Posted October 2, 2019 What do you mean by no wonder, Jacques? Quote
raaay Posted October 2, 2019 Report Posted October 2, 2019 Luis , a possibly little hint of a Gimie signature from Jacques ? Quote
Jacques Posted October 3, 2019 Report Posted October 3, 2019 Horikawa Kunihiro is a very big name, he is considered (with Umetada Myoju) as the founder of the Shinto tradition. This sword has 99.99% chances to be gimei. Quote
Bazza Posted October 3, 2019 Report Posted October 3, 2019 Worse. This is clearly a dremelled inscription. Anyone with a good working knowledge of Nihonto would immediately recognise this as a bodgy signature. Very bad news for any beginner picking up such a sword, translating the signature in the best of study intentions and going to the books to discover a big name (sorry BIG NAME) sword and hoping for a good find, only to discover it is a dud. Requiescat in Pace... BaZZa. Quote
