benatthelake Posted August 15, 2019 Report Posted August 15, 2019 Hello all. I'm looking for a bit of help with translation in the Kantei Section of NTHK Worksheet. Anything interesting in this section? Also the Smith is Yoshisuke and there was about a billion generations. Just trying to determine which generation or any indication of the era. More specific than Edo of course. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Ben NTHK NPO.pdf NTHK NPO 2.pdf NTHK NPO 3.pdf Quote
Ganko Posted August 15, 2019 Report Posted August 15, 2019 Looks like 11th generation, around Tenmei(1781) on the work sheet. Quote

benatthelake Posted August 15, 2019 Author Report Posted August 15, 2019 Looks like 11th generation, around Tenmei(1781) on the work sheet. Thanks Ganko. Are you sure? Does it say 11th Generation or Tenmei because my research shows.... Quote
SteveM Posted August 15, 2019 Report Posted August 15, 2019 Yes, it says 11th generation, c. Tenmei. 駿河十一代、天明頃 Quote
benatthelake Posted August 17, 2019 Author Report Posted August 17, 2019 Thanks Steve. Can you read the Kantei Section of NTHK Worksheet? Anything interesting in this section? Thanks again, Ben Quote
benatthelake Posted August 17, 2019 Author Report Posted August 17, 2019 So can anyone advise where is the 11th generation? I can't find any reference with the exception of the Markus Sesko note above. Could this be an error and it's really the 12th generation? Probably doesn't make much of a difference. Below is from Sho-Sin.com YOSHISUKE 1st KO-SHO 1455 SURUGA 767-768 YOS 1672 JO-SAKU 500 YOSHISUKE 2nd MEI-O 1492 SURUGA 768 JO-SAKU 500 YOSHISUKE 3rd TAI-EI 1521 SURUGA 768-769 JO-SAKU 500 TERUYOSHIYOSHISUKE 4th TEN-SHO 1573 SURUGA 769 YOS 1676 JO-SAKU 400 YOSHISUKE 5th KEI-CHO 1596 SURUGA 769 YOS 1677 JO-SAKU 280 YOSHISUKE 6th SHO-O 1652 SURUGA YOS 1678 JO-SAKU 280 YOSHISUKE 7th KAN-BUN 1661 SURUGA YOS 1679 JO-SAKU 300 YOSHISUKE 8th SHO-TOKU 1711 SURUGA CHU-JO 250 YOSHISUKE 9th KAN-PO 1741 SURUGA CHU-JO 250 YOSHISUKE 12th TEN-MEI 1781 SURUGA 769 CHU-SAKU 150 Quote
SteveM Posted August 17, 2019 Report Posted August 17, 2019 Hello Ben, the only writing in the kantei section is what I have above - Suruga 11th gen., circa Tenmei. Markus would be the best to comment on the various generations. Since the 12th generation Yoshisuke went out of his way to call himself the 12th, and there seems to be no solid record of the 10th or 11th, it feels like this was perhaps an error by the kantei team (or something got lost between the guy looking at the sword and the guy writing the description). benatthelake Posted August 17, 2019 Author Report Posted August 17, 2019 Hi Steve. I agree and thank you again. Ben Quote
Ed Posted August 19, 2019 Report Posted August 19, 2019 Pares and work sheet clearly state 11th gen., and Tenmei period. Just to note: Hawley's does list 10th through 14th generations. 10th YOS 1679 11th YOS 1680 ? YOS 1681 12th YOS 1682 13th YOS 1683 14th YOS 1684 Quote
