  1. Well received into the U.S. Alex...quickly and nicely packed. Thanks again. Everything looks better in hand. Best regards, Ben
  2. Was given this tsuba Kiribako box some years ago. Can anyone provide a translation? No, I don't have the Tsuba. Thanks! Ben
  3. Another one purchased. I blame Covid19 for this.....too much extra time on my hands. I do enjoy these Masakata tsubas. Ben
  4. Thanks Steve. For the translation and comment. Ben
  5. A very average Tsuba, I know, but something about it was appealing to me. Curious in regards to Smith/School. Any help is appreciated. Best regards, Ben
  6. I think I did pretty good with this one. Thanks to Steve on this thread for the reco. Best regards, Ben
  7. Thanks Stephen. I think this is the right one for this. Best regards, Ben
  8. Thanks Steven. Very nice one! I'm going to ask about the Nakago ana width. I'm not aware of this dealer but trust them if you do. Ben
  9. Yes Ken. This is the Yoroi doshi. Correct, the previous owner found this tsuba but recognized a better one is needed. I just want it to be more appropriate/matching. Make sense? Ben
  10. Sorry guys. I really should have posted this pic. The seller bought the shown "tsuba".....which seems just like a thick seppa. I'm traveling this week, so don't have in hand....but I think is has a gap of about 4 mm without seppa and current tsuba. Ben
  11. Need a Tsuba for a robust Yoroi-Doshi Tanto requires a Nakago-Ana width of at least 1cm. Prefer to match as shown in pic. Best regards, Ben
  12. Thanks to you all for the clarification and translations. Ben
  13. Can anyone help on the translation of this paper?....description and signature, any age info, etc. only please. I know I know.....Darcy has said Green Paper = No Paper But still nice to know what it says. Best regards, Ben
  14. Look carefully at the description.....he puts a question mark at the end of each sentence where authenticity can be considered.....sneaky! This WW2 Japanese Samurai Sword -WW II Officer? Gunto Katana? Sword. The tang is SIGNED with Asian Japanese or Chinese?character markings on the blade, there’s some kind of serial number markings on it (#10835). Above the handle on a metal plate . Sword Kinda looks like a type 98 but not sure?. I don’t know much about collecting old WW2 swords, or it’s original origin so please study pictures for condition details, may show wear due to age. I’m sure you collectors know what you’re looking at. I can’t find another like this design anywhere in existence? Ben
  15. New owner....me! Thanks Harry. Certainly is a thick Yori Doshi. I measure just a touch over 1cm at the Mune-Machi. Could use a polish I believe but took a few closure pics to capture some activity. Not sure if a polish would be worth the investment however. Looking for a new tsuba and kogatana to match the menuki and other fittings (copper looking). Any suggestions are appreciated. Ben
  16. Thanks Peter. Mei looks aligned with mine. Can you post full tusba pics? Would be interested in style, design, etc. Ben
  17. Francois. Thanks for sharing. Your mei looks quite different from mine. Perhaps he is the Masakata from the Ito school. Interesting. Thanks again. Ben
  18. Recent tsuba I purchased (pictured on left). I've owned the one on the right for a few years. Mei looks the same...Masakata. Agreed? I believe there were a few different artists who signed Masakata. One from the Ito School and one who went from Choshu to Edo (from previous discussion on this board). Thanks! Ben
  19. So can anyone advise where is the 11th generation? I can't find any reference with the exception of the Markus Sesko note above. Could this be an error and it's really the 12th generation? Probably doesn't make much of a difference. 20. Thanks Steve. Can you read the Kantei Section of NTHK Worksheet? Anything interesting in this section? Thanks again, Ben
  21. Thanks Ganko. Are you sure? Does it say 11th Generation or Tenmei because my research shows....
  22. Hello all. I'm looking for a bit of help with translation in the Kantei Section of NTHK Worksheet. Anything interesting in this section? Also the Smith is Yoshisuke and there was about a billion generations. Just trying to determine which generation or any indication of the era. More specific than Edo of course. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Ben NTHK NPO.pdf NTHK NPO 2.pdf NTHK NPO 3.pdf
  23. I was 2 for 3. A 75 rating (Bishu Osafune Norimitsu Wakizashi1462) and a 74 rating (Yoshisuke Tanto Uno kubi-zukuri style). My failing Katana was a long shot with an extremely faint and suspect signature....but I had an extra slot so it was worth a try. Great show for me...didn't buy much but enjoyed looking and learning.
