Mushin Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Gentlemen, Anybody know this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=001 I'm hungry for good reference material and anything in English is a nice extra. Is this a good one? Thanks, Bobby B Quote
Stephen Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Bobby yes its great for looking up Gendaito smiths to cross check mei, a must have if your runing into swords from that era. Quote
Rich S Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I agree, IMHO it's the best English language source available on Showa era swords. John Slough lived only a few miles from me and several of my swords are in the book (which of course makes it good :-) Seriously, it is well worth having and originally (when in print) sold for I think about $100. A while back I recall someone doing an authorized hardback reprint which was even higher I think. Rich S Quote
Stephen Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 another reason it's great Doc, is both our names are in the front for advanced sales and Oshigata contributions. . Quote
Hermes Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 I hope Bobby got it? Because it is gone now. James Quote

Goldy Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 HI all, Would anybody be able to post or pm me the index of smiths from this book? Many thanks for time and effort spent. Kindest regards, Quote
Rich S Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 There is an index of Slough's book setup to ToShow in zip format on my website at: http://www.geocities.com/alchemyst/jsgendai.zip Don't know if you can make heads or tales out of it without having ToShow. ToShow is still available for FREE from Peter McCullum at his website: http://www.geocities.com/saipan59/toshow/ Rich S Quote
Goldy Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Hi and thanks Richard. I had Toshow already but haven't set it up, thanks again for the link. Kindest Regards, Quote
Mushin Posted July 3, 2008 Author Report Posted July 3, 2008 Just for everybody's information, the Ebay sellers wrote me to say that they were the producer and distributor of the hardcover book and can furnish as many copies as anybody wants or needs. They said that with the retail purchase of the first book they can offer additional copies for $95 each and make sure that one of them is signed by the author. You can conact them via the email contact the seller link on the Ebay link. Hope this helps. Best, Bobby Quote
