TheGermanBastard Posted February 21, 2019 Report Posted February 21, 2019 Wonderfull tree and I do like the Tsuba, too Quote
mareo1912 Posted February 23, 2019 Author Report Posted February 23, 2019 Thanks Luis, I got two inquiries from US already, sadly I cannot export it out of the EU due to plant protection law. That process would take at least two years and cost approximately 600-800 Dollars and I would need to find some professionel with license (And it is a risk for the bonsai). If you need any info or more photos on any of the objects, please ask. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 Plant Protection Law not permitting to ship a Bonsai? Are you certain? I can't imagine that or the world is evern crazier than my weird imagination ... Quote
mareo1912 Posted February 23, 2019 Author Report Posted February 23, 2019 Generally certain plants are not allowed to import, exception are bonsais. The point is that insects and harmful microorganism shall not transfer into one country. So a 2 year control is needed with specifications as "in a pot >50cm over ground level" and 3 controls per year by official plant inspector. Also health certificate at customs needed etc. That's just too much for a private person to do Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 Marco, I think you can export just whaever you like - it is all then the buyers responsibility. Some countries like New Zeland may have strict laws indeed but in the USA? I do not think so. Quote
Frank B Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 I'd love to own the tree, but I'd like to see it within 2 years. Quote
mareo1912 Posted February 23, 2019 Author Report Posted February 23, 2019 It really is a beautiful Bonsai, I wouldn't let him go if it wasn't necessary. I checked the juristical situation together with a friend who is a lawyer some time ago, clear result: Two years with all different regulations in an official plant care or the tree will be burnt at US customs (if not shipped back). The whole process, you need to take it out of the dirt into sterilised soil, quite risky for the tree. Quote
Ed Posted February 23, 2019 Report Posted February 23, 2019 Yes, The US has import laws. I brought 30 varieties of orchids from the Philippines a few years ago for my wife. They had to go through insect, bacterial, viral and fungal treatments for nearly a month in order to get the appropriate paperwork for import. The United States takes the import of plants and animals very seriously in order to facilitate the prevention of a public health disaster. 1 Quote

mareo1912 Posted April 21, 2019 Author Report Posted April 21, 2019 Update with some new pictures. Normally I take him in for lunch and when guests are at my home and he sits in a Japanese corner. But I brought him somewhere else to our easter family dinner and he will be sitting at the side as the last years. Just so you don't wonder about all these hearts hanging around haha As most people who work with bonsai know, the pictures do not present him close to his in hands appearance. 3 Quote
