austin_militaria Posted April 19, 2018 Report Posted April 19, 2018 I would appreciate the help in this signature. It was found in military navy koshirae, The hamon is nice, but I am wondering if this was a machine made blade that was polished out as the hamachi is not sharp. Thanks. Quote

george trotter Posted April 20, 2018 Report Posted April 20, 2018 Swordsmiths mei is MITSUTAMA (can also be read Mitsukiyo). His family name is GOTO . This is Goto Kaneo (his personal name is 3 kanji and can be read several ways...I have just used one). He was registered as a WWII Seki swordsmith in 1943, March 13th : Sho18 / 3 / 13 (info is from Sensei Jinsoo Kim's older tosho list that gives their dates.. You might find some info on him if you google "Mitsutama". Hope this helps 2 Quote
John A Stuart Posted April 20, 2018 Report Posted April 20, 2018 Ah ha, A quick look-see made me think it was shige 重 , but, it is 玉 Thanks for correction. George. John Quote
austin_militaria Posted April 21, 2018 Author Report Posted April 21, 2018 Thank you for the help. I did find him listed as a Seki smith as well as another one of his swords. Looking at the blade closer it is machine made. The hamon still throws me as most polished out machine blades I have seen are straight and lack character. Quote
