kissakai Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 Can any one help with the makers name School: Akasaka - 1700 - Yatsuhashi bridge and Iris - Size: 68 x 64 x 6.5mm All I've manage to guess at: SignatureUnknown董重 something shige Grev Quote
SteveM Posted February 2, 2018 Report Posted February 2, 2018 The top part would be the same top part as 前, but nothing jumps out at me. (Also, only one artisan in the meikan who uses 前). The rest of that particular kanji looks obscured by rust or scratching or some other disfigurement. (董 would require the horizontal like to be crossing through the two small vertical lines, so I think we can discard this as a potential candidate.) The second kanji I thought resembles 氏 but again the one on the tsuba seems to have extra strokes that aren't used in 氏 Quote
kissakai Posted February 3, 2018 Author Report Posted February 3, 2018 A better image. I tried the suggestion of changing the angles and light source Quote
kissakai Posted February 3, 2018 Author Report Posted February 3, 2018 This is probably Akasaka Quote
vajo Posted February 3, 2018 Report Posted February 3, 2018 Grev that tsuba looks not like Akasaka school for me. Quote
kissakai Posted February 3, 2018 Author Report Posted February 3, 2018 I was OK with Akasaka but with a very slight chance of Akao Any other thoughts on the school? Quote
