Mark Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 I have a ko-wakizashi in shirasaya. It has some small writing toward the end of the saya. I can read the left column, the length 1.25 shaku. I am having trouble with the right and center.. any help appreciated Thanks! Quote
Nobody Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 By guesswork; 金目村 (Kaname mura) – Kaname village 中島政慈 (Nakajima Masashige?) – owner’s name? I am particularly unsure about the last kanji in the 2nd line. Quote
Mark Posted April 13, 2008 Author Report Posted April 13, 2008 Thank you! that would make sense, it looks like it was probably an owners information Quote
k morita Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Hi friends, :D I believe that the owner's name is "HabaNo MasaZo" (幅野 政蔵). Quote
Nobody Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Thanks Morita san, Now I can clearly see 蔵 and also maybe 野 in the line. :D I am still unsure about 巾 or 中. Maybe that is because of my bias, as Habano is an unfamiliar name for me. But I know the name does exist. Quote
