goose710 Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Gentlemen I found this cup in a small shop, paid $7.00us. I like it, no matter what it is Can anyone shed light on the "mark" in the clay? Thanks in advance Charles L. Grusovnik Quote
Grey Doffin Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 I don't know the mark (potter's signature) but this is a winter chawan (tea bowl. winter because the sides are straight up to keep the tea hot as opposed to more open to let it cool). Great find for $7; I recently found one at The Salvation Army shop for a couple $. Grey 1 Quote
seattle1 Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Hello: I believe the kanji is "chu", the middle, perhaps meaning the place in a set, or something similar. Arnold F. Quote
