Hi Everyone,

I have a question about the hamon.

Q: I have a Shinshinto blade (cutting edge 27"). The hamon seems to completely disappear for about 5" on one side and about 4" on the other side. Is this more likely due to the fact that the blade needs a relatively good polish or more likely due to the result of poor workmanship by the swordsmith?

The the sword signature is Sakushu Takada ju Nobukane.

作州高田住信包

From my research and help from this site and collectors in Japan

He was a swordsmith in Owari.

He was active in and around Late Edo period about 160 years old.

He moved from Owari to Mimasaka (Saku shu) and Suo province.

Thank you guys - much appreciated.

I'm new to the site and you two have been very helpful.

I'm interested in selling this Shinshinto...it's in gunto mounts.

I'm not sure how to list.
