Hello,

a signed blade "Yokoyama Kōzuke no Daijō Fujiwara Sukesada" (Gimei - :doubt:  especially the "sada" "定" is quite strange (a lot of threads here on this board  :)  ) has been offered to me.
Unfortunately I am struggeling on the mei on the ura side, (by the way, the Nakago around the Habaki area even it looks very odd - no idea about the reason?!) . Usually I would expect "Bishū Osafune-jūnin" or a date.... but it seems it is just a "...nen"?!
Any ideas or comments??  :dunno: :dunno:

@admin: Please move this thread to the "Translation" section if needed!

Many thanks in advance
Klaus

Dear Klaus.

Lots of worries on this one, walk away, walk away quickly!

I don't think the habaki has anything to do with the sword, the area around it looks worrying as do the signs of fire scale and the damage to the edge of the nakago.  I would be looking for signs of an added nakago but as the sword is out of polish anyway I would be throwing this one back.

I'm sure others will add thoughts.

All the best

How about

横山上野大掾藤原為宜

○○元年

Looks like Tameyoshi to me and not a gimei Sukesada. The date looks like something something Gannen, and the kanji may have been wiped out by whatever happened to the nakago. Is there any hamon at all? Looks like all you have there is an interesting signature...

Hello Thomas,

many thanks for your information.

I can not find any Tameyoshi signed this way :dunno:

Unfortunately due to the bad condition no Hamon visible. But I will double check it again.

thx

Klaus
