Turtle shell used in Koshirae. Any pics ?

Hi all.

 

I'm kindly asking if anybody has pictures showing the use of

turtle shell in Koshirae.

Information about school and period very welcomed as well.

I don't recall seeing any pictures of turtle shell used in koshirae but they must exist.

Hi Carlo, torise shell was cerianly used in koshirae, just as horn was, so or the most part, as a decoration or trim on a koshirae. Googling the net, I found a few references thought the one I wanted mosy was not working.

 

At Ed Marshall's site is this amazing koshirae.

At Tokugawa is this horse riding matchlock with a small amount of tortise shell

and also at Eokugawa is this Tortoiseshell work black lacquered sheath Aikuchi Tanto Fitting/ This is the link that does not work for me. In the Reference ssection, look down to TANTO_K957 and you will at least see what I mean.

Tostise shell was also used as a design and many Nobuie and Edo Tosho tsuba are famous for the design.
