iperpiper Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Hallo, I acquired this handle a few years ago from my grandpa. I do not know wheather it comes from his family or my grandma bought it (she was a collector of antiquities). If so, it must have been bought not later than 1960, when she retired. I am not shure about its use. Is it really the handle of a cutting object? It is made of ivory, this is the only think I am shure of, I have tested it and verified with an expert. Can someone help me to identify this object? I'd be very happy to return the favour: virtual beer on the net or real beer if you happen to come and visit Venice. Quote
Fuuten Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Well the form of the insertion isn't that of a sword. And since it has no mekugi ana / hole in it to set the sword or whatever object in place i'm kinda stumped. If its ivory, it might've been some sort of ornament that used to have something fitted inside. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 8, 2015 Report Posted July 8, 2015 Might have been used as handle of a walking stick or an umbrella. 1 Quote
