AndyMcK Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 Hello all! I am looking for moon-themed fittings for a katana project. Also other celestial themes would be suitable. Please pm me with possible candidates! Thank you and enjoy the starting spring! -Antti Quote

AndyMcK Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 Hello Antti! Thank you for the tips and photos, all of them are quite tempting, I would guess that Tadashige one is quite expensive and as yours is not for sale... Dont even want to know the price after that post on it. Still looking so please do let me know if you have some or stumble across them. -Antti Quote
Gasam Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 Hi, is that a moon at the top of this one? http://www.aoijapan.com/tsuba-cho-shu-hagi-ju-hachido-tomonobu-saku just happened to notice while browsing, I guess maybe you saw it already. Edit: it looks kind of odd and out of place when I look at it more closely. perhaps moon was added later? But im no expert :-) Quote
AndyMcK Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 Thank you for that, actually missed it while browsing Aoi. looks like the features have been reinforced and little smudging is there but otherwise looks very good. Antti Quote

Jussi Ekholm Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 I must confess I am horrible in understanding the art in tsuba, and I often don't understand the designs. Here are few tsuba that I think have moon in them. This moon & sun is actually pretty nice: http://yushindou.com/%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%88%E5%9B%B3%E3%80%80%E9%89%84%E5%9C%B0%E3%80%80%E6%92%AB%E8%A7%92%E5%BD%A2/ I think this has large moon (not my taste in design): http://www.e-sword.jp/tsuba/1510-6002.htm I think this one has small moon: http://yushindou.com/%E5%8D%81%E6%89%8B%E5%9B%B3%E3%80%80%E9%89%84%E5%9C%B0%E3%80%80%E6%9C%A8%E7%93%9C%E5%BD%A2/ Quote

Eric Santucci Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 Hi, I have this beautiful tsuba with moon and constellation in mist. Unsigned, but NBTHK Hozon to Akasaka school. Alas, this is from my personal collection and not for sale, but thought to share to give you additional ideas. Regards, Eric 2 Quote
AndyMcK Posted May 6, 2015 Author Report Posted May 6, 2015 Thank you Barry and Eric! Barry, is the ana about 2,5 cm in lenght? And Eric, nice looking tsuba, that kind of idea for displaying moon and constellation truly would fit my blade and give a good bridging towards other celestial bodies. Antti Quote
Eric Santucci Posted May 6, 2015 Report Posted May 6, 2015 Sure, glad to help. Thanks for the compliments on my tsuba. I am not really a fittings collector, but at times a variety of tsuba and menuki have spoken to me over the years and I have added them to my small collection. Mike and Cyrus over at Tetsugendo.com had a similar tsuba available about 4 months ago - with constellation in mist, but no moon. It was also quite nice and Akasaka school too. I don't see it on their site anymore, but you may want to get in touch with them to see if they still have it or can acquire something similarly for you. Best of luck, Eric Quote

AndyMcK Posted May 10, 2015 Author Report Posted May 10, 2015 Thank you Barry! Will see if I find some other fittings, looks like some tsubas are available at least. Antti Quote
