jason_mazzy Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I was lucky enough to recently pick up to nihonto in decent condition. Both could use a polish but I am lucky to have enough activity to work with. A motto passed to me was the Boshi never lies. While I rarely deal in absolutes I have tried to learn much about the boshi and as such I come to you. I would generally call this ko-maru or maybe o-maru but the actyivity in the boshi makes me wonder if that changes the boshi type. I'm not even sure there is a turn back because of the pattern and it may be Yakizume. Could this be kaen or haki kake because of the lines like a sweeping? Quote
jason_mazzy Posted March 19, 2015 Author Report Posted March 19, 2015 This side is where I am thinking there is no turn back. Quote
tokashikibob Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Awesome! Are you gonna let me see it next week? Best Regards, Bob 1 Quote
jason_mazzy Posted March 20, 2015 Author Report Posted March 20, 2015 I thought you were coming up 2 weeks ago. Am I crazy? Quote
tokashikibob Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 Jason, Great looking find all around, I can see why you were not going hard after the Chait blade if that was the back up. I hope I can catch a glimpse, do I need to bring my white Dress Blues gloves? I'll be on I-40 next Friday and Sat, I could go down Hwy 24 if your closer that way. Let me get your phone on PM and I'll give you a call next week. Best Regards, BOb Quote
Stephen Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 Great looking activity, but what Guido said on the first few pix. Quote
nihonto1001 Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 This looks like the same sword that Josh Troyer posted pics of. The boshi looks Mihara-ish to me. The rest of the blade strikes me as Shizu. Please post a better pic of the mei. Quote

nihonto1001 Posted March 20, 2015 Report Posted March 20, 2015 Here is some interesting commentary on Zenjo Kaneyoshi: www.onihonto.com/Koto_Uchigatana.html (assuming it is the same school). Quote
jason_mazzy Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 Thank you for posting. I have read that several times. It is in my bookmarks. There are several really good articles on the school and smith. Quote
jason_mazzy Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 the pic I posted above, is an NBTHK papered kaneyoshi. I'll try and snap some pictures of the blade, but it needs a new polish to pull the activity out. Quote
