brannow Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Hi All, I am looking for a source of shark skin for some saya restoration projects. Can any one help me out with a source or does any one have any for sale? Thanks and please pm me if you have any or a source.
Brian Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Seems a bit confusing, because shagreen seems to be either rayskin or sharkskin, and the sharkskin that I found online doesn't seem to have the "nodules" required. Hard to find though. You may want to give these guys a call: http://www.rojeleather.com/species-and- ... k-leather/ You may end up looking for small node rayskin though. Brian
Derek Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Looks like Bob just listed some nice samegawa. http://www.bushidojapaneseswords.com/same.html
Shugyosha Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Namikawa Heibei usually have same for sale: http://www.namikawa-ltd.com/product-list/11 Best,
Brian Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 I have a feeling Bill isn't looking for same, but is looking for proper shark skin as used on some saya like special order Gunto or other countries' swords. It has a different look to it and the nodes almost diamond shaped. Brian
brannow Posted February 13, 2015 Author Report Posted February 13, 2015 Brian Is right! That is exactly what I am looking for. It has diamond shaped noduals like what you find on navy dirks.
