Rich T Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 supply a better image of the mei please Rex, it is too hard to read. Also a larger image of the tsuba would be useful, and both sides for us to enjoy. Cheers Richard Quote
Nobody Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 The mei seems to be Onoda Sanenori (小野田實法) or Onoda Sanehiro (小野田實洪). However, I am unsure about the pronounciation of the last two kanji in either case. Quote
Tanasie Posted July 21, 2007 Author Report Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks, for the info, any knowledge of what era it can be dated to or anything else you can tell me about the tsuba ? Quote

Can you read the mei and tell me what 'type' of tsuba this falls in and what era does it date to ? Quote
Rich T Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 I think the tsuba has similarities to Choshû and other similar groups thought the hitsu ana are different to Choshû generally. I am still studying it, I wonder what others think ?. Koichi san, Could it not read Konoda Hironori 小野田寛法 ??. Cheers Rich Quote
Nobody Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 Koichi san, Could it not read Konoda Hironori小野田寛法 ??. Hi Rich, I am sure that the 4th kanji is 實. That is an old style of 実 (sane, jitsu, and so on). Quote

Rich T Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 good catch Pete and a nice clue in your reply Koichi. Rich Quote
Pete Klein Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Actually I had already found it prior to Koichi's post but thanks anyway. I used the multirad kanji search engine to sort out the different kanji from the lower radical variables. From there it was Haynes to the rescue. Once you know the first kanji variations it's a lot easier. Quote
