dynkykato Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Guys, I want to hear your opinion. Tsuka from my Katana WW2 Type3 is this: A professional make new Ito, change the old Silk with a new one and make some small retouches for $ 200.00 I have found to buy this Tsuka with Tsuba and Seppa for $ 300.00.There is burlap under the tsuka-ito not rayskin. That is: But there is a problem: the last hole does not match the hole at Nakago. I ask because you do not know what to do:to recondition my Tsuba, or buy tsuba and fittings in the picture, but you have to make a new hole in Nakago? Thanks. Greetings to all. P.S.I do not know why not download pictures.I tried to download the pictures again, later.Still, I expect your opinion. Thanks for understanding. Quote
Alex A Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Hello Gheorge, please DONT make a new hole in nakago, bad idea. Keep your blade original, "rehabilitate", as you say is the best option, but only if really necessary. Buying a used tsuka to match a blade is not the way to go, likely a bad fit. Quote
Stephen Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 Id leave it ORG, later youll move on down the line and youll not have gained anything other than spending your money. Live with it. Quote
dynkykato Posted February 18, 2014 Author Report Posted February 18, 2014 But the specialist, to wrap Ito correctly with my original Silk, is a good idea? Thank you. Quote
Alex A Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Hi Gheorghe, id be surprised if the guy said he can use it. You have two options, leave it as it is and save your money, or new ito/same. Id be tempted to leave it as it is. Quote
dynkykato Posted February 18, 2014 Author Report Posted February 18, 2014 Ok,thank you very much. Best regards, Quote
Kai-Gunto Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 I would use the old tsuka and new ito. Its impossible to use the old ito ,its not long enough. Over time ito will patinate. Quote
dynkykato Posted February 19, 2014 Author Report Posted February 19, 2014 The truth is that the specialist has proposed a new Silk for new Ito.Therefore I appeal to the opinion of professionals and respect their opinion. Thanks. Regards, Quote
Brian Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Yes..they will always use new silk. You cannot use old tsuka-ito. Let him go ahead. Old tsuka done with new silk. It will be fine if he matches the colour. Brian Quote
