Stephen Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Seems seller has accepted my offer after auction did not sell. I'm buying this as gimei but was wondering if you eagle eyes can make a call on it, I do have a inspection time so if that black area on the Kissaki is too deep or if I find a crack I can send it back, I think the sum of all parts is worth what I paid, just under a grand. Fire away I can take it, yea or nei? and rotated mei for you. Quote
Brian Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 I think you did better than well. Nice tsuba, and other fittings. Kozuka..kogatana, nice menuki...the whole koshirae has got to be worth that. Double habaki....someone thought well of it. Nakago jiri is correct, as is the patina. Don't know about the mei until I hit the books, but it isn't bad. I think the marks in the kissaki will be minor. Just want to be able to see through that hadori. But it looks like a good package, and at the price well worth a gamble. Told you he'd sell Even if gimei or mumei that is a decent price. Brian Quote
Stephen Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks Brian What has me worried is his description, it must have been given to him by someone in the know, if thats the case the know would have passed on it if something was out of place....well anyway. We'll see when it gets to the house next week. Quote
eternal_newbie Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks Brian What has me worried is his description, it must have been given to him by someone in the know, if thats the case the know would have passed on it if something was out of place....well anyway. We'll see when it gets to the house next week. Not necessarily - not everyone who's in the know is a dealer out for profit or interested in Hizen blades - and those that are might already own better examples. Given the inspection period and offer to take it back if it is not to your satisfaction, it's likely the source didn't notice any fatal flaws. I'm no expert but I agree with Brian - based on the fittings alone, you did well on this one. Quote
Jean Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Congrats, old boy. It is worth the price. Could not get for the price such a package in France. Quote
Veli Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Looks to be sooo close... look at the mekugi ana placement... the mei pics are too low resolution to really see the details, but at least this is not an obvious gimei. Great find at that price, gimei or not! Veli Quote
Stephen Posted January 5, 2014 Author Report Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks for that Veli It is very encouraging, if gimei he was a master forger... Quote

Stephen Posted March 2, 2014 Author Report Posted March 2, 2014 Buyer in Russia no pay yet PM if you want to make a bid on this and well move to FS section Start at 1000 what i paid for it http://www.ebay.com/itm/331134136426?ss ... 936wt_2792 Quote
Brian Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 Typically a buyer gets 7 days to pay. It is not unusual for it to take that long unless your auction description specifically calls for earlier payment. eBay will not allow an unpaid item claim for a few more days, and you would need that to claim back your seller fees. Just be a bit patient, it's only been like 3 days. Brian Quote
Stephen Posted March 2, 2014 Author Report Posted March 2, 2014 right Brian but you can start a dispute after three days Quote
