Curran Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 I ask for help on the center line of this box's hakogaki. The inside is easy to read, and of course the outside starts "Ko-katchushi" Then: [?] [field/rice paddy] [kami?] [kore?] tsuba Probably something very logical, but I'm drawing a blank and could use help. Sincere thanks in advance. Quote
Pete Klein Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 契田神宅鐔 ? A picture of the tsuba would be helpful. Quote
Curran Posted November 29, 2013 Author Report Posted November 29, 2013 Crickets answer.... Anybody? I'm hoping for one of our very kind Japanese mentors to pop in. Quote
k morita Posted November 29, 2013 Report Posted November 29, 2013 Hi, Atsuta-jingu (Atsuta shrine) tsuba. 熱 田 神 宮 鐔 Quote
Curran Posted December 1, 2013 Author Report Posted December 1, 2013 Thank you Morita-san. That was extremely helpful. I had guessed the tsuba might belong to a shrine as a dedication item or gift. If true, it would explain many things. Quote
