raiden Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Unless one has seen and studied multiple examples of the same artist, it is very hard to understand their complete circle of works and talents. The artist we have now is Tsuchiya Sorin - an artist from the Tsuchiya Yasuchika mon. In the west hje might be frowned upon as he is not well known, but in Japan he is well regarded and appreciated. A master of his art, a painter in metal! Thank you for sharing these items we would otherwise rarely see - if at all! Quote

TosoguCz Posted November 6, 2013 Report Posted November 6, 2013 it is very hard to understand their complete circle of works and talents. There is no doubt that these examples are masterpieces, but you can see specific techniques used in each piece. There is only different motif, but techniques are almost the same. Inlay, carving, engraving, texturing, gilding, or gold plating. These techniques are basic but mastered. Quote
