cisco-san Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Hello, a friend asked me to translate this signature (no date available) from a wakizashi which is mounted into a bone or Ivory Koshirae. I am quite sure that it reads Nōshū Seki ju Kanemoto 濃州関住兼元 (see below). But I am not sure which Kanemoto - I guess it is Kan1590 which worked during Bunsei. It seems that the Nakago as well as the blade itself has been cleaned. Sorry I have not photos from the blade, but I know that it has a hardly visible sanbonsugi hamon. Any comments would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance Klaus Quote

NihontoEurope Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Klaus, I guess : ) Wanted to make a general point to general requests about identification and you post received the payload Try to get some photos of the whole blade and the hamon. If you can see it, you can catch it digitally. /Martin Quote
cisco-san Posted September 26, 2013 Author Report Posted September 26, 2013 I meant that specialists know which BMW it is By the way, I was fully aware that the given information is very very little, but it is always an attempt worth to ask the members of this great board!! My intention was not to waste time and bandwidth!! I will try to get some more photos. Thx Klaus edit: typo Quote
Brian Posted September 26, 2013 Report Posted September 26, 2013 Klaus, You aren't wasting time or bandwidth...we have plenty of both Always worth asking. I think the point being made was that there were lots of them, and not enough info yet to try and narrow it down. But we await further pics and will hopefully be able to at least narrow it down a bit. No harm in asking. Brian Quote
NihontoEurope Posted September 27, 2013 Report Posted September 27, 2013 Klaus, I think you are the expert ( : Did some research this morning and I find this to most likely be 9th gen. Kanemoto (Bunsei 文政 1818-1830). The research is mainly based on what it is probably not and the most likely is. /Martin Quote
