k morita Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 叟 means old man.Pronunciation is "so". 七十八叟 "shichi-ju-hachi-so" An old man of 78 years old. Hiromitsu was RJT smith.But this blade was made in postwar period by him. Quote

k morita Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Hi, He was born in Meiji 25 (1892). (Ref. [Tosho zenshu] page 641) On [Nihonto Meikan],He was RJT smith,When he was 52 years old in 1943.(Ref.[Nihonto Meikan]page 807) Therefore,this sword was made in around 1969-1970. Quote
