k morita Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 Hi, Meaning is "A scissors for Kado(flower arrangement)". This scissors is used for flower arrangement(kado/ikebana). Ikebana (生け花, "living flowers") is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, also known as kadō (華道, the "way of flowers"). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikebana Quote

jason_mazzy Posted March 25, 2013 Author Report Posted March 25, 2013 華道用鋏 - Shears for flower arrangementRef. http://item.rakuten.co.jp/mugen-tobo/hasami0003/ That does not look so old to me. the first set is old, this is a newer set looks 70's to 80's with the type of pouch. Trying to figure out if it is worth bidding in. I bought the first pair because it appears to be a true handmade. not sure if these newer ones may be handmade or mass produced. Hoping to find a brand name so I could pinpoint it. I will try to find a different kanji pic. Quote
jason_mazzy Posted March 25, 2013 Author Report Posted March 25, 2013 the fifth kanji in the square, is that a brandname? can you read the gold kanji on the left? these are in the same pouch. Quote
