Greetings all,

Looked at a Gunto mount blade yesterday...pretty Tsukamaki and standard fittings, but the mei seems very 'sloppy' and hurried - as well as vague?

What I've been able to find from breaking down the Radicals is "10th", "Samurai", "Made"....possibly "hand" for the last kanji? I'm guessing oil-quenched Gunto but thought I'd see if I'm close in my translation...thanks in advance for any feedback. If I am WAY off, please feel free to send me back to the drawing-board :) .

Cheers,

Morning all,

The ethos of 七生報国 Shichisho Houkoku is explained by the late Professor Ivan Morris in his book "The Nobility of Failure"

I have found it a valuable book and would recommend it to anyone interested in the both the structure and motivation of the warrior mindset.

Appologies for seriousness at this time of festive revelries so please accept this invitation to my online Christmas Partay which is at the Izakaya:

Cheers
