  1. Hi Mike, Congratulations on the papers, I would love to see what it looks like. If you send me the photos I will post them for you, will send you a email.
  2. Hi Denis, there you go its a long one, (Did you mean 'near the ha'?, as I don't seem to spot the ware you might be indicating.) Rick, (submit for shinsa ?) probably not from the pics, some condition issues,If it was me
  3. Hi Jeremy, I posted these so you can see what we see, Have a good look at the mei of Shinaki and you will see why the ?
  4. Hi kunitaro san,Yes its hard to find healthy Kissaki/Jitetsu, and I do see a lot of old blades that are a bit tired for me the Kissaki is important and has to be in good condition. I was once told by a dealer that if I wanted to collect old blades I should not worry so much about them being tired and get used to it or collect Gendai but if you look hard you can find them. In the west we see a lot more tired blades as we tend to overlook the problems a bit more I think, maybe because we don't pick up on what we see as much but we need to see more good examples that's why its so important to have people the can show us the way like your self kunitaro san, this sword is a good example I looked at it and missed the ? marks and took to much notice of the description instead of using my eyes but next time I will see a bit better :D Again thanks your posts on this board are like a breath of fresh air :D
  5. Kunitaro san, Yes I see what you mean till you pointed it out I had looked at it as part of the Utsuri you teach us much, I will look more closely next time. But as you say its hard to learn from photos And just for you Mariusz, It has TH papers and a sayagaki by Tanobe sensei, allso look at this post, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10326&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
  6. Hi Mariusz, That's what I thought too kesho polish, but this part of the description( Nie granules of "Hotsure" fray and "N-ju Ha" double quench activity which is vividly bright.) had me thinking what is he pointing to? I have seen a few ko-Mihara and own a good example, and have tried to read as much as I can and have seen most of the stuff on the net this one is a interesting example of Ko-Mihara school Utsuri. and the groove possibly being struck by a spear sounds good too Hi Paul,Good to hear from you Thanks the images are always appreciated if you have the time
  7. HI guys As I have a interest in the Ko-Mihara school can someone help with what "N-ju Ha" double quench activity is ? that is mentioned on this blade http://www.sanmei.com/contents/media/O1 ... PUP_E.html I see what looks like a light reflection on the top of the hamon why would this be done ? as its not like the Utsuri that you can see on the blade thanks

    Interesting utsuri

Thanks Chris, it does make it a bit more clear (a soft hitatsura) sounds good. In photos its hard to distinguish between the two, must be different in hand.

    Interesting utsuri

Hi guys, Paul I also can not remember seeing anything so vivid before and it looks like like hitatsura so it has me scratching my head its description as glowing utsuri is the first one I have seen. Chris, you think its a random occurrence I wonder ? it does blur the line. Jacques, Namazu-hada means a spotted appearance that made of two different colored steels. as in the Aoe school eg, http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/Aoe.html don't know if it apply s if it did we would have seen more like this ?
  10. Hi guys, Aoi Art list this as utsuri, I was wondering if someone knows how utsuri that covers the blade like this (http://www.aoijapan.com/kakatana-suishinsi-masatsugu) is done? it almost looks like Hitatsura.
  11. Hi Jeremy, If you look on the board eg, viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5874 you will get the info you need. thoughts on the mei? Have a quick look how this one's cut This is the one from http://www.tokka.biz/ then yours. One of the other guy will give a better opinion :D
  12. Simion, No lemons, But if you want more info/value we have to see a closeup of the blades if you search on the board for Tadakuni,a lot of info will come up. I would love to see some closeup photos look at the photos that come up on the board to give you an idea of whats needed if you need help with the photos send me a message and I will try and give you a hand :D
  13. Or Perhaps the many blades are out of polish and you can not see much, I think Chris right.

I would like to know if the members agree. Thanks

    help with tag

Hi Kunitaro-san. I also spent 2h looking at Kanzan Sayagaki and it did not look right, and had the same thoughts. If it had new papers it would sell for a bit more than the asking price :D
  20. Ian, They listed it as a rare piece, it seems not so rare. They would be good for getting between the armor plates They also had some yatate (http://www.nipponto.co.jp/swords/KT122603.htm) (http://www.stutler.cc/pens/yatate/index.html) the site gets some odd things at times, but they had some interesting kit in the Late Muromachi. don't know how collectable they are. Thanks, :D
  21. Hi Ian, (Lanmuri Atoshi style Tanto, ) I think looks right, Thanks :D
  22. thanks Keith, The shape is different from Kikuchi-yari norm,so was not 100% it was a yari, it also looks like a mei on the nakago. so is mekugi-ana the original ?
  23. Hi Guys, A Late Muromachi odd tanto it looks like a cross between a Naginata/Yari in a Tanto, is this a one off ? thanks http://www.nipponto.co.jp/swords/KT119771.htm
