  1. My latest sword is a Type 3 Gendaito blade signed I believe by AKIHISA. The fiitings are in good order with a mon attached. Having checked the blade there are no evidence of any markings only what’s on the tang. The saya is flat black lacquer on a wood sayer with a matching to fittings bottom chap. Many thanks Gareth
  2. Thank you for the link .. Did find a match but being in Japanese couldn’t translate .. Many thanks Gareth

  4. Thanks Bruce for your comments .. Here are some more pics .. A big thank you to forum members for your comments
  5. Many thanks for the comments ... When Bruce was referring to the shop owner would this have been when the sword was originally sold in the 30s? Gareth
  6. A dealer friend contacted me to say he had picked up a sword in a deal ... He is mainly a medal dealer so today I went to see him. The sword is in excellent condition and the steel Saya as a brown leather combat cover . The fittings are totally untouched the tsuba is the cut out example and stamped the number 8 the fittings are also stamped the same . There is no identification marks of any kind on the tang only file marks. The blade is in great polish and looks possibly to be a early oil quenched blade . Many thanks Gareth
  7. Thank you for all your kind comments .. Regarding the blade I was informed on anothe forum the blade looks like it was oil quenched ? Being new to collecting swords any information will be gladly appreciated . I really like this sword plus the bonus of the certificate makes it for me . Many thanks Gareth
  8. No Geraint can’t see any signature the tang is heavily corroded with dark rust . The sword and the bits came locally from Bridgend.. What I like is the condition of the sword a true been there veteran if it could only talk !!!!!
  9. This sword is totally untouched and as never been cleaned the tsuba is the early cut out version ..
  10. A similar certificate in the Fuller and Gregory book
  11. Thought I would show this sword which came via a local dealer from the family of the owner of this sword who proudly displayed the sword under its certificate for years ... The sword shows it as been used during the War the wrap as gone like leather and the rank tassle as seen better days. The steel saya as some battle damage and the sword hanging chain was attached to the sword and wrapped up in the linen bag. I believe the blade is a oil quenched blade the handle was stuck tight on the tang and when I eventually removed it a large amount of debris fell out of the handle !! Thanks Gareth
  12. Recently purchased this sword in Auction which came from a long standing collection formed over a period of 50-60 years . Your help would be greatly appreciated Many thanks Gareth
