  5. Hola, Antique Japanese Wakizashi Signed Tanba No Kami Yoshimichi w/ shirasaya. This appears to be an early generation. On the omote the signature reads Tanba-no Kami Yoshimichi but on the ura I see something that resembles (ichi). Please inspect closely. Kobushigata choji hamon (plenty of togari-ba (hard to photo) is typical for one of the branches of the Mishina school. The hada is extremely well knitted itame hada that even goes above the shinogi where masame could be seen. The boshi shows many traits of the school as well. To my eyes I can't see any forging flaws, no blisters. The only place I find that is below the habaki (pictured). The blade is laser sharp and it's got very deep curvature and it measures: 20 7/8" cutting edge 5.6 mm motogasane 22mm motohaba 19.6mm sakihaba The shirosaya shows some wear but it is solid, fits the blade nice and it closes tight! Not sure of the signature. I got it as it is almost identical in every aspect to my Yamato Yoshimichi. As is, as described - no returns. Please do your research. Thank you! $1450 plus fees and shipping obo P.s. have and can take many photos, just ask please. J.
  6. Or when your wife serves you the divorce papers .. 🤷‍♂️🤪😜😁 J.
  7. I wish there was something to keep up with 😆 You clearly are an idiot - period. J.
  8. What he is asking about is not called Yasurime! Yasurime is the file marks on the nakago!!! Maybe you should research more before passing judgment to others.. and always in such demeaning manner. Shame. J.

    My first Nihonto

That's the beauty of the nihonto world.. and the more you clean it the more details you'll see.. it's a great, fulfilling experience Cheers J
  11. The photos are not revealing much. It looks like it has the features of the Yokoyama Bizen however I looked at my papered one and there are many things that are off. Definitely worth trying to paper and then polish. Regards J.
  12. So, I dont want to start an argument or denounce your blade by any means, I'm more of the blunt type. Most of us are on the long journey of studying traditionally made nihonto so - great place to start, no doubt. About the blade - The habaki is another give away - definitely not Japanese either.. while suguha hamon is not that appealing to most, it is my personal favorite. Depending on the era and the Smith there are lots of amazing 'activities' that can be seen so the example below is a shigekuni blade that I 'borrowed' from the guys at the sword museum. I hope they aren't mad at me as I'm showing the photo only for informational purposes 😬 Check this out - hada and hamon and then compare with yours .. The hada changes and the hamon does appear more complex as they progress towards the tip. Yours is way too uniform from any perspective - too perfect for handmade. Keep in mind that the late reproductions are becoming harder and harder to recognize so having a professional look at it would be the best I could suggest but my feeling is - a copy. With that said I'm only making a suggestion of what I see so far from the photos you've provided. Cheers. Respectfully J
  13. Authentic Japanese steel for the most part has life/motion in it, regardless even when it features suguha hamon. I don't see any of that featured in This sword. It's my opinion based on the photos and I'm 99.99% certain it is not an Authentic Japanese traditionally made blade. J.
  14. To me, this is NOT a traditionally made, authentic, Japanese nihonto. Just my 2 cents J.
  15. I see 'Muneyaki', unless the light is playing tricks. As I'm not an expert I can't confirm whether koto blades had that 'feature' at all, feel free to correct me. I haven't seen one yet. Suriage shinto with heavily modified nakago? Cheers J.
  16. My limited knowledge says the Mishina school but that's only because I'm biased Kudos to the fumbari takers. Clearly it has an adjusted nakago for various reasons.. p.s. and the mekugi Ana location, not to mention kissaki shape make me feel mishina school.. Just guesses 😁 J.
  17. The kikumon appears good at a glance, further and clearer photos could confirm my take. I think the loss of Machi okuri could have contributed for the partial loss of the kikumon or the accommodation of the blade for a new tsuka could also be a factor in the case. You have over 80% loss of the Nakago so it was probably mounted as uchi gatana so someone 'shaved off' the nakago at the edge side.. just guesses Please read about how to take care of old Japanese blade before you do anything with it but don't try to clean anything! There's a lot of information in the forum so take the time and just follow the basic guidelines is my suggestion. J.
  18. Or just mail them to your hotel room. Or a FedEx office location near. That's what I plan on doing at least. FedEx Office holds your package for 5 days. I've read and heard about musical instruments and such looking cases weirdly go missing sometimes on any flights so . .. that'd be my choice J.
