Hermann's In Nov
TheGermanBastard replied to Stephen's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
??? About 3000 bucks for some likely Mino O-Suriage Wakizashi piece that would need a new polish? Bringing the bill to 4k? Nope. -
Definately 4! I am however willing to offer generous salvation by taking on the blade for free ... Otherwise I'd stick with what the prvious poster said

I would like to be friends with the two pretty ladies for sure! What a beautifull museum! Marvelous!

Hermann's In Nov

By the way, they have had a very finely mounted Tanto which I thought to have been a real head cutter ... but in this auction lot I do not see much of appreciation. A while agao they had some great armor for sale coming from an old collection. Things you don't see for sale that often. Howevver with a more open Japanese sword market I do not see much opportunitie sin floor auctions considering they have a big premium. Am auction house has lost of expenses to pay so it will be your money spend on that in the end. hence I feel the real bargains are out there elsewhere. Looking in the NMB for sale section there are some realy sweet deals for example. -

The Waki isn't thrilling me ... Also we must not forget that this is no REAL Daisho in anyway ... this is a DAISHO Koshirae ... of nice quality I'd say .... but approx 7500 USD at the least for a set of Daisho Mounts? I think I can find the same on eBay for half the money easily. -

hello stephen, I have to specify that I was refering to the swords only ... the armor for example is okay ... the daisho however is pure crap ... no boshi = no good (fittings are nice though ... so you get an iron Tsnugai ) considering their premium and that the euro is strong it is expensive in the 1st place anyway -

Bird Head Tachi Stolen From Door Step

Hello Franco, thanks for your advice. I'm afraid there isn't any video footage. It was sent to a good neighbourhood ... one that is probably worthy of lifting other peoples package. So my hard earbed advice to all of you is to mae sure there is atleast signature confirmation when you ship somnething. -

Bird Head Tachi Stolen From Door Step
TheGermanBastard replied to TheGermanBastard's topic in Nihonto
Hello Ray, thanks for the links. This blade looked like a late Shinshinto to Meiji periode setup and I roughly valued it at around USD 4000 - 5000 give it looked to be in pretty good condition. However stole it, hit it big time. It is a shame that there is both such a bunch of dishonest people and lazy postal services employee who are unwilling to take some stairs to the door. -
Bird Head Tachi Stolen From Door Step

Hello Stepehen, thank you for your advice. I also urged them to start a claime / file an investigation with USPS. It is such a pitty as signature confirmation would only have been USD 2.50! Most probably we will never see that sword again. -

Nihonto.com Update
TheGermanBastard replied to Toryu2020's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
Well, I personally think that is two different cup of teas. Darcys website is highly educational. But I am looking at nihinto.com just from the perspective as a buyer / dealer website and as such I do not expect any education information but simply judge it from the point of design and functionality. A Nihonto website will list very few items in general (< 100) so all I want is to sort them by basic category and price and get some good images. In termes of design I personally like nihontoantiques.com and nihonto.com ... both use modern - probably Word press driven - CMS. they appeal to me. -
Unfortunately I have to report this Bird Head Tachi stolen. The seller shipped it without signature confirmation. It was delivered to BERKELEY, CA 94708 and probably placed next to the mailbox where it supposedly got stolen on September the 18th. I susspect someone passing by has stolen the parcel. Hence the sword may show up for sale somewhere. If you see it please let me know. Thank you!

Nihonto.com Update
TheGermanBastard replied to Toryu2020's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
I don't understand the criticism. Aise from some technical bugs that are just common at the start it is maybe the best lookig dealer nihonto website on the net in my personal oppinion. Well done! -
Why? Both Kanji and Horimono put it way above the common Chinese knock off. The Tsukamaki is done too amateurisch and the Kodugu ist unquestionable authentic. So we would have some making a sword using a Chinese copy with genuine parts? I think it being simply an abused / wrongly restored genuine Nihonto is more logical and will by the way go hand in hand with what the Museum had to say - but for the part where it got ruined through the Grape Vine.

Aoi Auction: Nagamitsu
TheGermanBastard replied to Stephen's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
That is interesting. Thanks for sharing! Would also like if this is the case now. Yes, there are more than a few Gassan Sadakatsu with TBH and I this is just my own personal oppinion but it does not make sense to me to allow some average Shinshinto blade to go TBH while a masterpiece made by master smith Sadakatsu would not. Everybody be is his own judge. I can not follow up on this. So would be interesting to know for sure what is the present NBTHKs oppinion on this. -
Chromed pieces do seldom have the nagako chromed as far as I have seen
