  1. Found it with a few other tsuba on the bookshelf. Knew it was somewhere. 79.8mm x 76.6mm
  2. It was a good price. This smith seemed to like to make many mokume tsuba. I have a similar piece that I went looking for when I saw this auction and well, I guess I have too many tsuba as I couldn't find it. The outer rim on mine has had gold foil applied to it and it is not papered, but very close in dimensions. I will look again to see if I can find it so I can post some images. There is also this one for sale with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers. Tsuguhide - Nihon Collection
  3. I mentioned that I didn't believe the tsuba was forged when they first posted it on the website and got a similar response. As for is it for sale. For the right amount of money most anything is for sale. I'm more hung up on the fact that Bob has passed according to these websites. Elliott said that Bob was still collecting in a correspondence I had with him in October of 2025 so baffled that Bob passed away in 2023.
  4. Dale you must have one hell of a filing system to find all these similar pieces for everyone. I had seen the choshuya.co piece before. There are some similarities in the wakeidou piece. Seems it is a crap shoot if I send it for papers someday. Thank you both for the info.
  5. . Have had this one in my collection and the note that came with it said Akaska. Just over 6mm at the center and about 5.2mm at the rim. 80mm x 76.8mm I'm torn as it could be either school to my eyes. Let me know what you think

    Yagyu/Owari?

Oh, you mean this that they replicate on these tsuba too. This is the tsuba on the left in my earlier post.

    Yagyu/Owari?

Here are two that I think originated from this seller. I also have a Kanayama piece that I think has the same origins. When you have them in hand they all seem to have something a little off. I should have known when buying them for the price I did that they couldn't have been real. But I have bought worse over the years.
  8. I have a few but just picked up this Echizen Kinai piece recently. I like the concave petals.
  9. Just a friendly bump and reminder the show is this coming weekend. A few pictures of some of the pieces I will have at the show.
  10. This is not my piece and while I know it is Choshu the Google image translate is useless in reading the signature. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Jean my bad. I corrected my error. I already have the Sano Museum book. Was wondering about this new Akasaka book.
  12. I keep seeing this book show up on ebay but can't seem to find it anywhere else. Not sure if it is new or just new to me. I don't mind paying for books, but the price seems high and I am unsure if there is any new information compared to the Sano museum book on Akasaka tsuba. Anyone have the book shown below or know where to get it for a reasonable price? Thanks, Lou
  13. A word of continued caution. A prominent Japanese dealer warned me that even with the proper tariff code, Japanese export documents, and antique attestation it is still up to the judgment of the customs officer reviewing the package. I have had one tsuba arrive without tariffs applied and one that did. Both arrived in the US in the past two months and shipped out well after the August change. Fingers crossed for the next one that is on the way.
  14. Not sure if there will be any swords as they haven't had the show for a few years. I will be setup there with iron tsuba. Trying to thin out the collection after 25 years of collecting. Christmas TSUBA

I have had this one for over 30 years. Way back when I started collecting and knew nothing. Now I have many books and tsuba and still know nothing.
