Mark Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 size, shape of nakago give the impression of late 1800's early 1900's Quote
Surfson Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 I would think shinshinto, based on the shape, yasurime etc. I'm sure there are some nmb members that can tell you who made it! Quote
Jorgensen Posted July 23, 2012 Author Report Posted July 23, 2012 Hello Mark & Robert, Thank you very much for taking your time and info on my tanto. It would indeed be great if any here on the board could get me closer to province or even who made it! Another thing is the "circle" on the hamon near the tip. Is this common for this period - did the smith copy this from and older style og his own bright idea? I have seen some like this with mon or mt. fuji and similar, but not like this... When having it in hand, it looks like a circle with a sun/moon coming out in left top at the circle. Quote
Ruben Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Hallo J., I dont think someone is able to say who was the maker of your sword, thats simply not possible. Regarding the "circle" at the tip, I belive this could be a result of construction the sword was made of. Regards! Ruben Quote
