Chako Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Hello all, do you think the fittings in the attached photos are worth submission at the June NTHK Minnesota Show? I believe the fuchi mei is Seirindo Ichiryu Michitoshi. Kojiri Ichiryusai Masamitsu Saku. Unsure of the kozuka. Tanto is Shimada Yoshisuke according to NBTHK. Three different names on one tanto....does that work for shinsa judges? And can anyone confirm the Michitoshi mei? Thanks very much for your time and help, Jan Quote
Bungo Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 if you submit all in one lot..........they may pass shinsa as edo period koshirae without further " committing " to the authenticity of the mei of the components. If that were the case , then it's sort of " meaningless ". Better take the plunge and submit indivudually. I could be wrong about this, of course............... milt the ronin Quote
Rich T Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 is singed Yasumasa with Kao. He is listed in Haynes H11175.0 No date given. I do not have references ( I can find yet ) of either mei sorry. Cheers Rich Quote
Curran Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Nice looking rig of fittings. Ichiryu Michitoshi is also listed in Haynes. Just a short entry. So no pointer to a reference signature in any of the main texts. If submitted, almost no reason for it to be a gimei- but then no compelling reason for them to guarantee it as authentic. I don't know if they would paper it or not. Quote
Chako Posted April 27, 2007 Author Report Posted April 27, 2007 Thanks, everyone, for your help and opinions. It seems a shame to have shinsa only 200 miles away and not be able to take advantage of it but perhaps this is not the piece. Take care, Jan. Quote
Curran Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Jan, Consider submitting it as a complete koshirae. My understanding is they will not be authenticating the signature of each individual piece, but authenticating it as a complete work of antiquity. In the photos I can see, it looks very nice. If you have a photo of the whole piece, I'd love to see it. Quote
Chako Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 Hello Curran. Thank you again for all of your help. Attached photos are weak but should let you get the overall feel of the tanto. Submitted for NTBHK papers last year and was a little disappointed at Hozon decision but am grateful to have been through the papering process, at least once. I like this piece a lot. Thanks and take care, Jan Quote
