I believe this is some sort of Gunto. The person who gave it to me told me it was a world war II era military sword.

 

It's got a wooden tsuka and saya with metal fittings, a wicked tanto tip, and a blade with all kinds of crazy flower designs on it. Pretty certain it's machine made. Anybody know what sort of sword this is, and what it means?

Yet another one. *sigh*

This one is just about everything a genuine Nihonto isn't. Most fakes got past that terrible kissaki ages ago.

Saw a bundle recently, some with genuine gunto mounts, PLEASE folks ask here......or as I have done way back with the "Throat stabber...waki with the whole kissaki broken off" treat it as a steep learning curve.
