Grey Doffin Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Hi guys, Was watching this sale on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320885783712?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 which just ended. Curious; doesn't this look like the web from one tsuba inserted into the rim from another? If not, what is it then? If so, why would anyone bother? Doesn't seem to be enough value to justify the effort. What do you think? Grey Quote
Curran Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Different iron. Looks like the outer ring was added later. Who knows why... (a) No initial outer ring, and it was decided it would be better if it had one (b) Outer ring damaged, and this is the replacement © Outer ring removed, then this is the later replacement Any way, it isn't a great job since things don't quite connect right. Mediocre repair. Quote
Soshin Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Hi Grey, Looking at too many tsuba like it will likely cause me to go blind. I agree with Curran's points specific about it being a mediocre repair. Yours truly, David Stiles Quote
