Nobody Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 The mei reads Hikone ju (彦根住) Nomura Kanenori (野村包教). maybe mid. Edo period Quote
Rich T Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 think one is gimei. Koichi is correct with the reading as usual. Kanenori signed Hikone in Omi provence and Gojô in Kyôto and Edo. He dies somewhere between 1715 - 1750. He was a student of the first Kitagawa Soten and his early work was in the style of Sôten. A note in Haynes says " the majority of work signed with the name of this artist are forgeries" Cheers Rich Quote
raaay Posted March 31, 2007 Author Report Posted March 31, 2007 thanks again for your help , koichi & rich Adding some additional photos off the fuchi , kashira and the habaki. rich the work on the fuchi , kashira sure look like Soten style work!!! so i take it if Kanenori was "faked" a lot he must have been highly rated ? what do you think ? ray.
