Rich T Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Thank you for posting that article. It may help explain some things to the people who seem to not understand or do not ask how a shinsa works. Cheers Richard Quote
Bungo Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 the fact that it is " HARD " to pass shinsa makes it meaningful. Afterall, if every Joe/Jane Blows can get into Harvard , then what's the big deal ? And Harvard does reject lots of worthy candidates too .............. just my usual warped sense of humor milt the ronin Quote
Justin Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Thanks Ludolf for sending those pages about the NTHK's method of grading. They were very interesting. For the uninitiated (like me) could someone please explain the mechanics of the NTHK shinsa process. How many shinsa members are there? Do they look at each sword seperately, write some comments and then compare notes (after each person has had a chance to look) to see if everyone is thinking the same thing? Or does only one person look at a blade and then make a judgement on behalf of the relevant organisation? Is it the same people all the time or are there quite a few experts who can be called upon to evaluate swords? Can they generally look at a sword and know straight away who made it or do they need to trawl through the reference books like us? Can the public sit in and watch or it 'behind closed doors'? Can you ask questions after your sword has been papered or pink slipped to find out more information? Is it basically the same for the NBTHK? Thanks for any information Regards Justin Quote
Brian Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Hi all, I split this from the original topic, as I feel it is a good and informative topic on its own. Regards, Brian Quote
