The first question is which one do you think it is?

If you believe it to be one of the famous koto Kunitoshi's then yes I think it is wishful thinking on your part.

Not sure what you are "poking around in" but suggest you look at things like Nihonto Koza for some oshigata of various Kunitoshi blades and others

Anything is possible but it is better to instead look for what is probable. You can post all the pictures you want but it is a waste of time if you think you will get any definite answers to your question off the internet, and in the end, what good are a bunch of opinions based on photos in any case? Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and have the blade looked at in hand by experts.

Chris.... Of course I'm going to have some experienced people look at it .The next chance I'll have won't be for atleast a month or so. I'm just trying to spark some conversation ect..

Hi Marcello,

Was the blade polished between the attached photos and the posted photos? Maybe the different lighting but it looks much cleaner in the low light photos.

If the persons that suggested it might be shinto were board members chances are good that would be an excellent place to start.I would do as Paul said and hit the books and look for examples of Kuni xxx.Not having the last kanji makes it real difficult unless someone were to recognize a specific feature that may be apparent in your photos.

Just another opinion.

Hi,

Also my opinion.

Based on the hada and the hamon in nioi deki, looks like Shinto Ishido for me.

You should first define the period, then the area, and after the smith. The mei should confirm all these elements, and not the opposite.

Yes the pics are from his archives I believe and I agree .. It really is a beautifull sword and great photography!! I was just browsing the archives and came across the sword and it remindined me if the sword I have. I'm sure they are in completely different styles since I'm so new to this I still can't see most of the intricate details. But they just looked similar to my untrained eye and mine is a kuni??? Lol.
