oledawg Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Good Morning: I have a Japanese military sword that is one of three that my dad obtained during WWII. I have no idea of age, etc. but over the years the flat silk cord covering the wooden handle has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. My question is if anyone knows someone in NC that does this type of work and could "restore" this sword. I am sure that it is not a valuable item, but was one that a soldier/officer carried. I has "emotional" value more than anything else. Thanks. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Oledawg, name please, You can mail the handle to David McDonald in Montana (if he isn't linked above you can google him). He will put it right. Grey Quote
patrick7813 Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Hi I heartedly endorse David McDonald. He has done similar work for me with great outcomes (and is currently working on another project of mine). He's linked above under 'Montana Iron'. I urge you to contact him; you'll be well pleased with the results. Cheers, Quote
Mark Green Posted July 17, 2011 Report Posted July 17, 2011 Hi Sandy, I don't know of anyone here in NC that will fix those handles. There are a few in the US now though. Check the links above for a few. Some others may see your post and contact you. Cheers, Mark G Quote
