I've been offered this sword by a guy in Poland...I suspect it's a scam but thought I'd run the Mei through folks more knowledgable than I.

He states the swords were obtained in Califoria (Katana and Tanto) and they're supposedly war trophies from WWII. He sent many photos of the blade, kissaki, etc. and it appears to be decent to my un-professional eye.

Does anyone recognize the signature?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

the name of the smith seems to be Hagashiyama Yoshihira.

What makes you think it is a scam?

If you really think so, simply give the name of the seller and plenty of decent people from Poland and elsewhere could tell you wether or not they had bad experience with this seller.

Why yes Dirk, it IS Pawel Nowak from Poland...I suspect it's not legit., as he wouldn't answer 1) how he obtained my email address and 2) how he intended to ship it, etc.

I am always very cautious of un-solicited offers, as I see this type of thing all the time in my business and it rarely works out well :D .

Thank you Ron, I'm glad my intuition was correct...I'm new to the Board, and really appreciate the input. I'm doing a lot of reading and learning!

Hi Curtis, I'm relatively new but have seen him make similar posts and inquiries on other similar sites and noticed that the same pitch has been or ends up here. I think he is out there farming in my honest opinion, but its only based upon my observed speculation. I would be suspect.

Members,

I wonder if there is any connection with a "Maskim" that contacted me from Russia with some pretty decent looking Asian arms which included nihonto, armor and muskets for sale from Russia. I requested some details and proof of ownership etc and never heard back. Just sharing, be cautious. This happened months ago but i remembered the name.

I thought I had added into the registration email..a warning about Pawel Nowak? :doubt:

Please can someone who has registered recently (past 2 weeks) advise if the warning is there, and visible?

When will this guy just change his name? Clearly the Pawel cat is out of the bag.

And yes, very well known for scamming new collectors of WWII materials as well.
