nihonto1001 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Hello: I found a sword which was previously compromised by the old steel wool to the nakago trick. I cannot, for the life of me, decipher the mei, never mind authenticate it. Such assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jon Quote

nihonto1001 Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hi Mark: Sakakura no shin Terukane. Unless his mei changed throughout time, it looks to be gimei, judging by the examples in Fujishiro and on-line. Also different from authentic examples, the nakago is rounded, not kuri juri. Am I on the right track? Jon Quote
cabowen Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 nakago is crudely shaped, filed, and finished.....I vote gimei. Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 坂倉言之進照包 Sakakura Gonnoshin Terukane. A very big name if it was shoshin. Alas, you are right. John Quote
Jacques Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Hi, the nakago is rounded, not kuri juri. Am I on the right track? Terukane's nakago-jiri is iriyamagata. Quote
