huntershooter Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 There is a Takehisa in Slough's ("Modern Japanese Swordsmiths"). Only info provided says; "Showa-Aichi" (province), rated "Medium-Grade Showato". Quote
lionel Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 Hi Todd...how accurate is this book and are there any other books available as i want some reading material about the differant swordsmiths ? Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I am not saying that Slough's is never wrong, but Takehisa is a known smith, but not known for gendaito blades, but showato blades. Perhaps Chris or one of the other gendai SME's could weigh in on whether they have seen gendaito from this smith, but I know I haven't. Quote
cabowen Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I haven't seen any gendaito by Takehisa, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist....The only smith of note from Aichi who worked during the war was Tsutsui Kiyokane. Quote
lionel Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 here are a few snaps of the sword in question.... Quote

Brian Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Max width 800 pixels, otherwise they turn to links to view. This is to prevent forced horizontal scrolling which is darn irritating. Brian Quote
cabowen Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Sure looks like a showato....odds are good it is oil quenched.... Quote
