Hi guys,

I have a Meiji era tachi by Yamana Tokiyoshi, which will be offered on my site. I need Romaji and translation of one piece of the sayagaki and a paper from, I'm told, Honami Nisshu. Much appreciated, Grey

Grey, I will attempt this. It is my first attempt so please forgive me. Others may correct me.

Scabard: 貴重刀剣認定 - Certified as a valuable sword.

Authentic work of Yamana Tokiyoshi of Sasshū (Satsuma)

Period: around the Keichō era” (1596–1615)

The smaller note:

お見やぶり appears to be an appraisal-related remark, roughly “as appraised."

Yamana Tokiyoshi – label

Length: 2 shaku 2 sun 6 bu

Hon'Ami Nisshu

Cheers.

Romagi reading and a little correction,

(Kicho token nintei)

(Sasshu Yamana Tokiyoshi, Shoshin)

(Jidai, Keio no koro) (1865-1868)

(Yamana Tokiyoshi, kozane/kofuda)

(Nagasa, ni-shaku ichi-sun roku-bu kore ari) – Length, 2-shaku 1-sun 6-bu

I think that is:

相見申候也

Aimi(e)-mōshi-sōrō nari

Period term with about the meaning of "as appraised" as Brett said (lit. "as it appears to me").
