Cookie_Monstah Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 Greetings, I acquired this tsuba yesterday. Can I get some help with identifying the maker? Also if you can confirm the object of artwork. It seems as though it is a monkey. Hope all is well, Khalid Quote
Matsunoki Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 (edited) It’s a tiger behind a rock with bamboo on the reverse. A well known popular theme. as for maker…..modern. Edited August 15 by Matsunoki Forgot to say “modern” 4 1 Quote
Dan tsuba Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 Hello Abu, I don't know. My opinion is that your tsuba looks like some type of made in China recent copy. But hey, I could be wrong! 1 Quote
nihonto_1 Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 Hmm curious. I am in agreement with Dan, some details seem very soft, the gold wear does not seem to match the metalwork wear. Also lack of the punch marks around the nakago ana. Tagane-oto I think they are called. I recently bought a whole bunch of copies....no idea why, but has helped me learn a lot more than I did. But as above, could be very wrong. 1 Quote
