I have a sword that has been in the family since brought back from ww2. There is supposedly photos from the field. Once those are retrieved I will also post depending. If I could get some help identifying the markings please.

Looks like KUNITOMO (= TACHI MEI).

This is not a military but a civilian sword that should be researched and treated carefully.
Never rub or clean the NAKAGO (= tang) to make the signature readable....

Like Jean said, this is an older blade mounted in leather covered saya (scabbard) for WWII.  The experts may be able to estimate the era of your blade by the photos provided.  However they may need the following measurements:

I dont know why it won't let me add photos now but measurements are 

 

Nagasa- 28in. 71.12 cm

Nakago- 7 5/8 in.  19.3cm

Kissaki- 1 3/8 in 3.5cm
