antiqueswords Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Hello! I acquired this sword, which I believe is a wakizashi, although I could be wrong. It has 20" blade and, 10.5" handle. If someone could translate the signature and give me an idea of when the sword was made, I would really appreciate it. Quote
Ray Singer Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 This is signed Minamoto Kunihiro. Unclear which Kunihiro this is, there were many. Nakago and mei give the impresson of a Muromachi period sword. 1 Quote

ROKUJURO Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 No, the mountings do not help. The handle looks like HANDACHI style and a bit too long, the TSUBA is probably civilian, but not related to the blade. Good photos of the blade (tip-upwards) without HABAKI may help an assessment. If the blade (measured on the back/spine from the notch to the tip) is shorter than 606 mm and longer than 303 mm, it is a WAKIZASHI. Quote
antiqueswords Posted March 16 Author Report Posted March 16 I just noticed the tsuba is also signed. Quote
