These are couple of Soten school examples but I don't understand some of the terminology

I'm assuming this is an area, Goshu Hikone ju

Hyudo maybe a title

Is one of the circled words a typo or is it this way in the original (the kanji appear to be the same)?

It is a typo - it is NYUDO (= Buddhist layman).

Thanks, Jean. I was asking because hyudo does have a meaning - usually Ice house, but can mean things associated with the military.

Grev, Hikone is a famous castle town in Goshu (the province of Ohmi) to the east of Kyoto and Lake Biwa, formerly residence of the Ii(ii) Daimyo family.

In that castle town area were gathered a line of artisans which came to be known as the 'Soten'.

Thanks for the feedback and I've read the info on the link

I'm all OK with the first example but there are errors with kanji for the second mei

Also Soten saku then Soten sei seems strange

The last term Soheishi is also unknown to me

Maybe just brain fog!

For us numpty collectors can get a bit worried about asking the obvious

Like in a classroom when everyone looks at you when you ask a simple question when the answer is know by everbody

On the left are three Kanji

Sō-Ten Saku.

 

On the right are five Kanji 

So-Hei-Shi Nyū-dō.
