Weidas Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 guys, this seller is.. mildly said,a bit crazy about prices. F.e. they posted order of The Sacred Treasure of 5th grade for $1500... roughly 10 times its real value... Quote
Stephen Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 still think he put the price in, in yen. Quote

IanB Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Lorenzo - Great video - I recognised one of the armours, it used to be in Arashiyama, Kyoto, then I was offered it. Small world. Eric, Nice armour. I have one in black with the kamon of the Date family on the crupper. It has a remarkable feature in that scales drop off every time you look at it. Ian B Quote

leo Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Thanks for the video, Lorenzo. I did not understand much, but the film made a lot of sense. Fascinating dragon mask, Eric. Now I need just a place which sells stuffed horses --off course at a bargain price(shipping included!) Martin Quote

Bugyotsuji Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Lorenzo, some amazing stuff in those links. What is the FONDAZIONE ANTONIO MAZZOTTA? Quote
Lorenzo Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 The fondazione in that case was sort of promoter, but the video shows the "Samurai" exhibition in Milan last year; I think Carlo already put some link here time ago. The official site is now gone, as the exhibition itself.. you can see something left here: http://www.nonsolokawaii.com/i-samurai- ... zzo-reale/ ... and, the same exhibition will be open again this year, but in Venice: http://www.venezia.net/venice-italy/940 ... ny-museum/ Quote
estcrh Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 Some pictures of my saddle, Eric. Except for the side protectors it is complete including chest and stand. I am still lookig for matching protectors in green and gold leather. The kura is late Edo, the abumi are early Edo, maybe earlier. They carry the kiri mon and a signature which I suppose, is "Nariyuki Saku", eberything originally inlaid with silver(ginzogan), most of it gone now. Generally they show a lot of wear. Here they come: Moss, here are a pair of side protectors for sale in Japan. Probably not quite the colors you were looking for but....... http://www.japanauctioncenter.com/view2 ... /r63805988 Quote
leo Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Hi, Eric! Thank you for the link. I am seriously considering this offer. Regards, Martin Quote
estcrh Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 An interesting Japanese saddle and very complete, it looks old but I have no idea how old. If anyone knows what this type of saddle was used for etc I would be interested in knowing. http://s831.photobucket.com/albums/zz23 ... %20saddle/ Quote
IanB Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Eric, A wonderfully complete outfit. It is a pack saddle - presumably for use in the daimyo gyoretsu. Ian Bottomley Quote
estcrh Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Thanks Ian, thats a good drawing, I always see bits and pieces being sold but I have never seen a complete set. A lot of work went into it and its surprisingly light for being so bulky. Quote
estcrh Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 they used sleigh bells? Stephen, it snows in Japan...and the bells have a great sound to! Quote
