moss Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Hello all, I was hoping to get some help regarding exporting a sword to the U.S. Are there any problems doing so from the Australian end? What are the requirements for the U.S end? Also is there any prefered carrier inside the U.S? Or if you can think of any other pifalls a heads up would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Moss Quote
Chishiki Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Hi, there are no restrictions sending a sword from Australia to the US. Australia Post will handle it. Any customs fees etc are the problem for the receiver on the other end. Mark Quote
Richmond Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I enquired into the same thing the other day. I spoke to Australian customs and was then referred onto the firearms registry in NSW. The firearms registry said that they field many calls from customs about importing swords to australia. They told me that if the blade is over 40cm there is no problem as it is classed as a sword. But they also said that if it was under that (tanto length) you would have a hard time go figure. Mind you this is only for NSW. Steve L Quote
Thekirsh Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Mr Moss, There are no problems sending swords to the US of A. I always send them Australia post, fully insured and registered with tracking number. Only thing I would do, if posting from Queensland, is check that no cane toads jump in the package This will cause problems at customs. Simon Quote
moss Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 Dear Mr Kircher, You are very funny but sorry we like to keep our toads for lick'n,while we bash out a tune or two on the banjo. I'm sure I saw your photo in the Gympie hall of shame ....Ha Ha Just taking the p***,catch up for a beer next year in Sydney. Cheers Moss Quote
