CNS_44 Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 Thinking about bidding on this wakizashi which the seller says is signed Soushu Masahiro. I would just like to get a second opinion on it and see what others think of it and could possibly determine which generation masahiro forged it. Quote
Rivkin Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 I would pass. It would be 1550s generation, but I personally don't like the nakago. 1 Quote
CNS_44 Posted August 9 Author Report Posted August 9 Thanks for the opinion. The same seller is also auctioning this one signed noushu jyu kanemoto. What do you think is it worth it? Quote
Shugyosha Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 Hi Chansen, to get an opinion you need to post all the information including price, size and whether it has papers and fittings or not. Better photos would help too as the mei isn’t legible (to me) and there are a ton of Kanemoto. https://nihontoclub.com/view/smiths/list?id_op=%3D&id=&name_op=starts&name=Kanemoto&kanji_op=%3D&kanji=&province=All&start_era=All&school_nid=All It’s perhaps a Mino wakizashi from the Muromachi period but it’s just a guess without more. 2devnul Posted August 12 Report Posted August 12 https://www.ebay.com/str/japanboutique You can indeed buy 'budget' swords on auctions from Hiro. But keep in mind, he is not an idiot and won't sell you "papered Muramasa" for 500$. Swords he puts on auctions are either Gimei or have some flaws (maybe not fatal but ...). Still, one can buy a nice entry level Nihonto there for less then 1k$. Quote
