ribendao Posted August 2, 2025 Report Posted August 2, 2025 Got this “Tanto” in a knife lot from an estate sale. To my novice eyes it looks like a legit hamon. I am unable to remove the handle without destroying it. Would like some other opinions please. thanks! Quote
ribendao Posted August 2, 2025 Author Report Posted August 2, 2025 It came with another small knife that fits together when sheathed. I think the small one is obviously a machine made acid etched hamon blade. I’m theorizing it is a tourist souvenir that was made from a nihonto and a machined blade sometime in the Meji or Taisho era. Anyone think my theory holds any water? Quote
Rawa Posted August 2, 2025 Report Posted August 2, 2025 Show us tsuka. It have mekugi? Looks like belt grinded. Someone was posting once how they make hamon using belt. Quote
Brian Posted August 2, 2025 Report Posted August 2, 2025 Both are unfortunately tourist junk 1 1 Quote
